Physical Evidence Museum - Share your story with us!
Every third woman in Switzerland experiences domestic violence in the form of physical, psychological, sexual or economic abuse at some point in her life. In most cases, it is never spoken about. We want to provide an opportunity to share such experiences and raise awareness about the issue. The «Physical Evidence Museum» is a project by the artists Jana Jacuka and Laura Stašāne, which has been realised in various countries. The documentary exhibition will be in Bern in May 2022 in collaboration with the theatre festival auawirleben and the dramaturge Ruth Huber. In a flat we show a collection of objects that have been witnesses to domestic violence. In short texts, the audience learns what stories are hidden behind the objects.
If you have experienced domestic violence yourself, we would like to encourage you to provide an object for the museum and share your story with us. This can be any object that you associate with your experience: An item you might want to get rid of, or one that was there when the violence happened.
Send us your item along with the story. It should be at least 1-3 sentences long, but you can write as much as you want! You can also write in your mother tongue, we will translate the text. The texts will be printed in a brochure accompanying the exhibition
Your participation is anonymous. However, you are welcome to share your contact details with us so that we can get back to you if we have any questions. We will not pass on the data to third parties under any circumstances. If you have any questions, please contact us at any time by email.
